If an application accesses enterprise information systems (EIS) using resource adapters, then consider how to maintain access to the EIS from the cloud or consider migrating the EIS to the cloud.
The following items indicate that an EIS is accessed:
javax.resource.cci.Connection and javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory Java classes<res-type>javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory</res-type> deployment descriptor element
in the application.xml, application-client.xml, ejb-jar.xml, or web.xml fileThis rule is flagged once per Eclipse project or Java archive.
If your application is able to directly access your EIS, no further action is required.
Otherwise, one option is to move the EIS application to the cloud as part of the migration. Alternatively, you can use a VPN tunnel, such as the IBM Secure Gateway for IBM Cloud, to create a secure connection for your existing on-premises EIS. For more information about configuring a secure connection, see Configuring a VPN. After you configure your gateway, connect your application to the new destination by using the cloud host and port number that is provided when you created the destination.
